Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) often referred to by her professional title Ari Lennox is an American music producer and performer born in Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be signed to J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. In October 21st, 2016 she dropped Pho Her debut EP under the label Dreamville Records. That was the day she was first recognized. The album that she released as her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music via the internet in 2012 when she dropped her first mixtape Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. In 2014 she continued to make music available on the web including her self released single Bound. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day she was featured on Omen's album Elephant Eyes featuring the track Sweat it Out. J. Cole, who was a part of the Dreamville crew at that time, wanted to have her create Rihanna references. In December, it was revealed 8, that she had been signed to Dreamville Records. She appeared on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II which featured the track Backseat alongside Cozz. In October 21, 2016, she released her debut EP named Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance for J. Cole on his track Change in 2017. She also performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. She was also featured on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus with Bas as her labelmates. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on July 16, 2018. The music video followed by a music video in September. Her second single, Grampa on November 9. On the 13th of November she released two more singles: the No One or Pedigree. She performed with Cole in her Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby On November 16and later she released the song as a solo single for her first album. In February of 2019 the music video was made available for the song. The track has received over three million hits on YouTube within its first week. She was the support act for 6LACK as part of their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December, 2018.
